Q&A: Why is it so?
An interactive Q & A session in which participants send in their top two questions about writing and communication to be answered by a communication expert Marie Alafaci.
Questions might range from how to modify your message for different audiences to knowing why a particular grammar or punctuation rule applies.If you would like to submit your questions about communication, please email Marie at firstname.lastname@example.org with VALBEC Questions as the subject.Marie will answer your questions during the session and discuss some of the finer points of writing for different audiences.There will also be an opportunity to ask questions during the session, so that the talk becomes a live example of responding to the needs of individual learners.

Marie Alafaci: Your Business Coach
As an educator, I am passionate about helping people find practical strategies to improve their writing through tailored writing workshops, one-on-one coaching or content creation. I have worked for over a decade in retail, arts administration and the not-for profit sector. I’ve also been an author and corporate trainer since 1995. My business interests are in communication, critical and creative thinking and presentation skills.
As an author, I write for adults as well as children, and have been shortlisted for a number of fiction and non-fiction awards. My work has been on The Age best-sellers list and my most recent title, Zelda’s Big Adventure, a book about a chook who wants to be an astronaut,was a ‘Notable’ picture book in the CBCA Awards.
I teach writing across a range of genres, review children’s books and co-run a manuscript assessment service, Bedlam Books. My current work in progress is a humorous, feminist, crime space opera.
